Dear Friend
The picture above shows a very diverse group of people - different ages, ethnicity and gender and most probably at least half of the group will have either themselves, through a family member or friend been affected by cancer. Every day someone's mother, father, child, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparent, cousin, nephew, neice or friend has had their life cut short by cancer.
Cancer knows no bounds in age or race and it is our deepest desire to do everything that we possibly can to help in the fight against this insideous disease.
It may be a simple idea but we truly believe that $1 Is All It Takes. Every member of the Experience Seekers Travel Club community will be aiding cancer research because Greg and I will donate $1 of every full membership fee, every month, every year.
We will work with Cancer Council Queensland which is not government funded and who relies entirely on public support through donations, to distribute all donated monies to a number of different research projects so that we can help reduce the estimated 106,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year. Cancer Council Queensland is a member of Cancer Council Australia (formerly The Australian Cancer Society) and is affiliated with the International Union Against Cancer.
If you would like to read for yourself about research that is being undertaken, Cancer Council Australia has published its first national Research Highlights report.
The report profiles some of the hundreds of research projects funded by the Cancer Council each year and introduces the people behind the research, as they discuss their efforts to better understand cancer, improve the prevention and early detection of the disease as well as improve treatments and the quality of life of cancer patients.
Research is the Cancer Council’s largest single investment with a commitment of $49 million in 2008.
This commitment to research of such breadth and depth is only made possible through the support of donations and fundraising.
